A Powerful Evening at the House of Commons for Dyslexia Awareness

Last month, 1in10 Dyslexia had the privilege of attending an inspiring evening at the House of Commons for the British Dyslexia Association Parliamentary Reception ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡งโœจ.

Hosted by Peter Swallow MP and Juliet Campbell MP, and sponsored by Theo Paphitis and Ryman, the event brought together policymakers, educators, advocates, and lived-experience voices to shine a light on the real experiences of young people with dyslexia.

We were also honoured to hear from Adam Dance MP, who spoke passionately about the urgent need to tackle barriers in early identification and ensure that every childregardless of postcode has fair access to support. His commitment to championing neurodiversity in education was felt across the room.

A Reality for Families

Nine in ten families feel that life with dyslexic children is harder, and yet too many still face significant barriers to early intervention. The evening underscored why change is not only necessary but overdue.

Standing Together for Change

It was a privilege to be part of this national conversation, standing alongside incredible voices calling for change and sharing a vision for a more inclusive, equitable education system.

With Thanks

A huge thank-you to Ellen Broome, CEO of the British Dyslexia Association, for her inspiring leadershipand to everyone involved in making the evening so powerful. Events like this remind us why our mission at 1in10 is so important: making the invisible visible for every dyslexic child.
